0.1 GRAM LABORATORY BALANCES (0.1g READABILITY)
1/10 of a gram balances are available in many different price ranges because of the varying kinds of weighing technology available to you. Lowest cost scales typically use a strain gauge load cell which may be good enough for some applications but have plenty of drawbacks. One problem is the auto zero tracking feature prevents small sample sizes from being recorded and the balance will automatically reset it back to zero. They are too slow to fill liquids effectively and typically continue to creep when it should stay on the appropriate value within the repeatability specification.
The Ohaus Explorer Series is the ideal balance for reliability, speed, and simple usability in the lab. There are two style bases to choose from including the larger, IP54 rated, High Capacity Explorer. Both feature the same indicator and functions.
